babel is tha winner!

the 55th annual grammy awards were this past sunday. following the newly instated dress code, i am sad to say that the red carpet was a bit boring to me. but the actual show was full of incredible performances and many grammy-worthy winners.

one of my favorite performances of the night was ed sheeran and elton john's collaboration of "the a team". i think ed sheeran has one of the best live voices and of course elton john is a classic. my sister saw ed sheeran in concert last month, and after seeing his performance on the grammy's, i was extremely jealous of her.

i was really happy to see the black keys win best rock album and best rock performance. i think they are so great.

fun. fun. fun. i. love. you. .. i was so so incredibly happy that fun. was even nominated. and then they won .. two grammys .. oh yay! besides their wins for best new artist and song of the year, their performance of "carry on" was amazing. and when it started raining on them .. i lost it. and they win best dressed for me. three very well-suited men .. so vogue, so beautiful.

and album of the year goes to .. mumford and sons!! YAY!

great performances .. making history

the most exciting night of the whole year is exactly sixteen days away. yes that would be the academy awards! time magazine covered some of the nominees this year ahead of the big day.

time magazine also posted a video with many of the nominees discussing how they took on their roles. it's one thing to watch a movie and decide for yourself what avenues the actors took to develop the characters they portrayed. and it's an entirely different thing to hear from the actors themselves as to how dedicated they were to get their character just right. it is a very uplifting feeling to experience, understanding that there are those in the flimmaking world who desire to be a part of a film that is to be remembered in regards to the performances. this video gives me chills .. i really do appreciate movies more when i can acknowledge the people who work hard to make them right.
